I've been searching for a great salon since I was 16 (now 24) and this is the first salon I love being loyal too. Everyone at the salon is very accommodating and friendly--which is a lot more than I can say about the other salons in New York. Takahiro really listens to what you want before he starts cutting. I always walk out with the best hair cut I've ever gotten. It is a bit on the pricey side, but I think it's totally worth it.

My wife recently went here for her haircut. Booking an appointment was surprisingly easy, as she called on Friday and managed to get an appointment for the next day. She opted for a senior stylist, and he listened intently to her description of what she wanted. 40 quick minutes later and 2 inches shorter, she came out with an amazing cut.

It's taken me years and lots of trial and error, but like AG, I've found my stylist here at Takamichi Hair, and I'm never leaving him.
Takahiro is nothing short of terrific. I walked in my first time there, told him I just wanted my hair short, but long enough to tie back, and we sat there discussing option and his ideas. In the end I decided just to go with it and trust him, and lordy it was the greatest decision for my hair I've ever made.
He's meticulous at his trade, snipping with his scissors (I LOVE that they don't use razor blades here to chop off hair - that always annoys me) while chatting away with me about where we've both lived, things he should try in Texas, things I should try in NY (and Canada, and LA, and Tokyo, and the list goes on...) and it wasn't even a painful conversation like most places I've been to before; I actually enjoyed it!

Takahiro cut my hair and I love it. It's so easy to style now and I don't need to use a flat-iron to force it to look decent. Just blow dry and go...which is a sign of a great haircut performed by someone with skills. Now, I need to figure out how to get Takahiro to move to Seattle, so I don't have to fly to NYC everytime I want a good haircut. Damn!!!
